Four Award-Winning Cheeses at the 2025 American Cheese Society Competition

Bécancour, July 25, 2025 – Fromagerie L’Ancêtre continues to shine on the international stage, earning four prestigious awards at the 2025 American Cheese Society (ACS) Competition, one of the most renowned artisan cheese competitions in North America.
1st Place : 3-Year-Old Organic Cheddar
Category: Mature Cheddar – all milk types, aged 24 to 47 months) Made with organic, unpasteurized milk and aged for a minimum of three years, this firm and slightly crumbly cheddar delivers pronounced nutty flavours with a fruity finish. Its smooth, velvety texture contains delicate crystals from the long, natural aging process that enhance its bold flavour.
2nd Place : 1-Year Artisan Goat Cheese
Category: American Made / International Style – goat’s milk) A firm, aged goat cheese in the cheddar style, made from high-quality goat’s milk from Quebec. This cheese is also a finalist at the 2025 CASEUS Awards.
2nd Place : Light Medium Organic Cheddar
Category: Light / Reduced Fat Aged for a minimum of six months, this high in protein, reduced-fat cheddar (9g protein per 30g, 18% milk fat) offers the perfect balance between healthy eating and authentic taste. It previously won at the 2024 CASEUS Awards and is once again a finalist in 2025.
3rd Place : Organic Frugal
Category: Fat Free / Low Fat Made from partially skimmed organic milk, this high in protein, low-fat cheese contains 10g of protein with only 7% milk fat, delivering full flavour without compromise.
All awarded cheeses are naturally lactose-free.
A recognition that goes beyond borders
Already a finalist for five cheeses at the 2025 CASEUS Awards in Quebec, winner of the Canadian Grand Prix for New Products in June, finalist at the 2025 SIAL Innovation competition, and recipient of the 2024 CTAQ Food Innovation Award, L’Ancêtre further cements its status as a leader in organic cheese, also recognized beyond Canada’s borders.
