A Canadian First for its Organic Halloumi!
Bécancour, October 23, 2025 – Fromagerie L’Ancêtre is proud to announce that its Organic Halloumi has been selected as a finalist in the 2025 edition of the Food Innovation Awards presented by the Conseil de la transformation alimentaire du Québec (CTAQ), in the category New or Improved Products – Dairy.
This nomination is a testament to L’Ancêtre’s continued commitment to innovation and reinforces its leadership in the evolution of the organic dairy industry:
Its Organic Halloumi recently stood out on September 17 by winning the Grilling Cheese category at the prestigious 2025 Sélection Caseus competition, where the Fromagerie received three awards in total. Additionally, L’Ancêtre won a Food Innovation Award in 2024 for Canada’s first certified “grass-fed” cheddar, reaffirming its dedication to pushing the boundaries of organic innovation.
The first certified organic halloumi in Canada, this unique cheese has been available in Quebec since May 2025 and will soon be distributed nationwide. It stands out for its authentic taste, with a lower salt content than conventional products on the market, while meeting growing consumer demand for organic, eco-friendly, and flavourful foods.
You can find it in L’Ancêtre cheese shops, on the company’s online store (QC only), and in various retailers across Quebec (Avril, TAU, La Moisson, Boite à grains & IGA).
