CASEUS 2024: 3 Organic Cheeses from Fromagerie L’Ancêtre Named Finalists in Quebec’s Best Cheeses Competition 

Bécancour, September 17, 2024 – Following the victory of Fromagerie L’Ancêtre’s 2-year Aged Cheddar at CASEUS 2023, this cheese is once again a finalist in the same “Cheddar” category, aiming to retain its title as Quebec’s best cheddar. Last year marked the first time an organic cheese won this prestigious award. L’Ancêtre Cheddar is a lactose-free, firm-textured cheese made from unpasteurized milk.

Two other cheeses from Fromagerie L’Ancêtre have also been named finalists in this event. Among them is the L’Ancêtre organic unpasteurized Smoked Cheddar, aged with traditional applewood smoking, in the “Flavored by Smoking, Maceration, or Addition of Flavoring Substances” category. Additionally, in the “Reduced Fat Cheese (less than 20%)” category, the L’Ancêtre organic medium-light unpasteurized Cheddar, partially skimmed (18% milk fat): low in fat yet retaining full flavor.
